Claydon House Care Home, is situated at the end of a quiet residential crescent in the heart of the town of Lewes in East Sussex, just north of Brighton.
Life in Lewes is a slower pace, and all our residents are treated as family. We are often told that we make residents and visitors feel like family and that they feel like they have always been here.
We strive to go the extra mile for everyone we care for, encouraging families to join in our activities along with their loved ones, which is always enjoyable for everyone involved.

At Aria Care, we take a genuine interest in you and the way you like spending your time. This means we can tailor your time with us and make sure it’s every bit as enjoyable as life has always been. With round-the-clock care and support, dining experiences and stimulating activities, you’ll soon be calling us “home”.
Morning
- Our team provide a wonderfully nutritious breakfast to set you up for the day.
- Regular coffee mornings, where we invite the local community into our homes to socialise and spend time with our residents.
- You’ll find our residents soaking up the morning sun, enjoying a coffee or tea with fellow residents.
Afternoon
- A home from home environment, to enjoy past hobbies, which includes baking and cooking.
- Enjoy music from a local entertainer whilst spending time with friends.
- Keep your mind busy and your creative skills sharp with arts and crafts sessions run regularly in our community.
Evening
- Gatherings and parties to celebrate important dates, with families and friends invited to join in and spend precious time together.
- Homecooked meals with your fellow residents are enjoyed in our comfortable dining rooms.
- Quizzes and games fill the rooms with joy during the evenings in our community.

When you arrive and throughout your stay you’re greeted with warmth, passion, and care and our community is vibrant, happy, and homely. We love learning as much as we can about who we care for, so your loved one’s time is tailored to their individual need and interests. This can be as small as knowing when they like to wake up, how they like their tea, and everything about their daily routine. Our team takes the time to get to know all our residents and encourage independence and communication.
We are dedicated to providing a smooth transition into a home where care is from the heart and interaction with residents is paramount. Our residents show us the way. They tell us what they need, and we do our very best to deliver. Every element of our care is considered with their needs in mind. Surrounding everyone with familiarity, security and care, we make their experience with us as fulfilling as possible.
Reviews
There is also a lovely garden that is 100% wheelchair accessible, not very green in November but I bet it is a lovely place to spend an afternoon in the spring and summer. I hope that Mum will be moving in soon.

“I enjoy the huge variety of people I work with daily – relatives, residents, staff and professional bodies. My biggest achievement is ensuring residents receive the care they need and want.”
My name is Vanessa Redford and I am the Home Manager here at Claydon House. I have worked in care for over 30 years, primarily with the young and the elderly. I started my career working with young adults with learning difficulties and have now moved into care homes for older people. It is my responsibility to ensure residents are safe and well cared for in a person-centred manner. That staff adhere to policies and procedures and work in a safe environment. I believe everyone should be treated as an individual. I enjoy the huge variety of people I work with daily – relatives, residents, staff and professional bodies. My biggest achievement is ensuring residents receive the care they need and want.
I have a few hobbies that I enjoy. I love to read and to cook. I also love to travel and go on lovely walks. There is a lot of green countryside and sea all a short distance from the home. I have lived locally on and off for the past 40 years, so know the area very well. I did spend two years living in Egypt previously, which was an amazing experience, but nothing beats the picturesque countryside of home. We’ve got a lovely setting here at Claydon House. Located at the end of a quiet residential crescent in the heart of the town of Lewes, East Sussex, our charming Victorian town residence has been converted to offer modern facilities, but retains its period character. I would be delighted to show visitors our beautiful home.

🐎 A day at the races! 🐎
As the Grand National takes place this weekend, we decided to celebrate in style!
We decorated our own hats and had high tea for Ladies day 👒
And then we watched in awe as our staff and visitors ran races on hobby horses for our betting entertainment!
