Last week, our homes were filled with excitement as we celebrated Care Home Open Week with a variety of fun-filled activities and events. From BBQs to musical performances, the week was a wonderful celebration of community and connection. Here are a few highlights…

Care Home Open Week celebrations

Dormy House Care Home in Sunningdale held a lovely Ladies’ Day for their residents. The home provided fascinators, make-up sessions, and hand massages, and arranged for a professional photographer to take photos of their residents and loved ones. They were also joined by the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Mrs Mandy Brar, Keith from Ascot Police, and singer Amy.

Walstead Place Care Home in Haywards Heath hosted a ‘Meet the Manager’ event to introduce their new home manager, Steve. The evening was filled with engaging conversations, delightful cheeses, and exquisite wine. They also had a visit from Cllr Duncan Pascoe, the Mayor of Haywards Heath, along with members of the local community.

Deer Park View Care Centre in Teddington enjoyed their first picnic of the year in Bushy Park, indulging in a variety of sweet treats and refreshing drinks whilst relaxing in the shade.

Southlands Place Care Home in Bexhill-on-Sea welcomed a few scaly friends, including Caramel, a 29-year-old royal python, Popcorn, an albino royal python, Noodle, a Kenyan sand boa, two Madagascan hissing cockroaches, and two West African giant land snails. The residents loved hearing facts about each of them and enjoyed the chance to stroke and hold them.

Firtree House Care Home in Tunbridge Wells enjoyed a delightful cheese and wine afternoon, joined by the Mayor of Tunbridge Wells, Councillor David Osborne. The residents had a wonderful time chatting, enjoying the food, and some even enjoyed a refreshing Frozé (a frozen rosé cocktail).

Acacia Care Centre in South Norwood welcomed families, friends, and the local community into their home for an afternoon filled with laughter, connection, and summer fun. They enjoyed a BBQ in the garden and a fantastic live performance by the incredibly talented Ellamae, who had everyone smiling, singing, and even up on their feet dancing!

Galsworthy House Nursing Home in Kingston-upon-Thames celebrated inclusion and diversity by recognising the fabulous, multicultural team that makes Galsworthy House so special. Through music, dance, food and traditional dress, they said a huge thank you to the many different nationalities that are an integral part of the Galsworthy House family.
