What does care from the heart mean to the team at Galsworthy House?
“Care from the heart is the principle that shapes every aspect of our care home. It’s more than just a set of tasks or routines; it’s an commitment to providing our residents with the kind of care we would want for our own loved ones. Care from the heart means that every resident is seen as an individual, with a life rich in experiences, emotions, and stories. It’s about creating an atmosphere where residents feel valued, respected, and truly listened to. Our team not only attend to the physical needs of our residents, but they also take the time to build meaningful relationships and engagements, and provide emotional support.

When our team care from the heart, they continually go above and beyond to ensure that every resident’s dignity is upheld, their preferences are honoured, and their happiness is prioritised. It’s about going that extra mile, whether it’s holding a hand, sharing a smile, or taking a few moments to chat about a resident’s day.”

Ultimately, care from the heart transforms our care home into a place of warmth, trust, and companionship. It’s the essence of why we do what we do, and it’s what sets us apart. Our residents and their families can rest assured that their well-being is at the centre of everything we do, and that’s the heart of our care home.

Keeping Things Personal

The welcoming surroundings at Galsworthy House Nursing Home are matched by the high standard of individual care our colleagues provide to our residents. When you arrive and throughout your stay you’re greeted with warmth, passion, and care and our community is vibrant, happy, and homely.

We love learning as much as we can about who we care for, so your loved one’s time is tailored to their individual need and interests. This can be as small as knowing when they like to wake up, how they like their tea, and everything about their daily routine. Our team take the time to get to know all our residents and encourage independence and communication.

We are dedicated to providing a smooth transition into a home where care is from the heart and interaction with residents is paramount. Our residents show us the way. They tell us what they need, and we do our very best to deliver. Every element of our care is considered with their needs in mind. Surrounding everyone with familiarity, security and care, we make their experience with us as fulfilling as possible.

Meet the Manager

Serpil Mitchell is our Home Manager at Galsworthy House Care Home, here’s a little bit more about the home in her own words:

“As Home Manager I believe in delivering exceptional care for our residents, whilst making each day memorable. I lead by example and involve myself in day-to-day life of our community as well as ensuring Galsworthy House is a happy and enjoyable place in which to live and work.

It is a joy to spend time with our residents and their relatives and make a difference in their lives daily. It is also important to me to lead and mentor my team to be the best they can be.

I have worked in the health and social care sector for over 24 years working in various roles and gaining experience which I use every day. I have also undertaken a range of management and leadership qualifications to support my development and skills.

At Galsworthy House, we are one big family and everything we do is from the heart, treating the people living in our community as individuals understanding their choices, wishes and dreams for no other reason than to make a difference every day.

Caring from the heart means showing compassion, empathy and kindness in everything we do. It is important to us that they feel valued and respected as their experiences and life stories are something we can learn from.

The riverside walks, café’s and restaurants are my favourite parts of the local area as well as Richmond Park which our residents like as well. I enjoy travelling and exploring new cultures, as well as reading and spending time with family and friends and my cat Pluto.”
