Recently, our homes brought their communities together for the Macmillan Coffee Morning to enjoy some cake and a cuppa and raise funds for cancer support and research.
Macmillan provide vital services and guidance to those living with cancer and are committed to researching and campaigning for better cancer care. 98% of their funding is through voluntary donations so fundraising is essential to achieve their goals. Their annual Coffee Morning is a fantastic way to get people together and raise money for a great cause.
Coxhill

Magna’s residents love getting involved with fundraisers and putting their creativity to a good cause, so in preparation for the day, they made some sweet treats in a baking class led by head chef, Katie. They learned how to pipe and got creative, decorating and baking butterfly cakes and buttercream cupcakes that were lapped up and praised by all.

Tall Trees
Macmillan Coffee Mornings are a tradition at Tall Trees Care Home in Chipping Norton and, every year, their team and residents bring the local community together for a cause that’s very close to their hearts.
Everyone gathered in the lounge and enjoyed the variety of cakes baked by Tall Trees team. Receptionist, Jo, even came in during her annual leave to share a delicious Victoria sponge cake she’d baked the night before.
Residents and loved ones had a lovely time nibbling and nattering away and as a result of a great morning, Tall Trees raised £100 towards Macmillan Cancer Support.
Thames View
Thames View Care Home in Thames Ditton hosted a Coffee Morning in their beautiful bistro where residents and their families enjoyed cake and a cuppa, served by their baristas for the day, the wonderful wellbeing team.
Guests added their donations to the box as they tucked in to the cake display and, bringing a successful day to an end, the team were overjoyed to raise £500!
Health and Wellbeing Lead, Raquel Pena Aristizabal commented, “Macmillan coffee morning is a popular fundraising event here in the home. Many of the residents are survivors themselves or have had close relations who have received their wonderful support. Also being able to contribute to causes like this one is part of the activities strategy for better wellbeing as usually residents are on the receiving end.”
