Last week, L’Hermitage Care Centre in Jersey celebrated as resident Doreen Perchard marked an incredible milestone, her 100th birthday.
Doreen, who has been part of the L’Hermitage family for the past ten months, previously lived in St Helier and was a devoted member of the Georgetown Methodist Church.
To honour her special day, the home arranged a visit by His Excellency, Vice Admiral Jerry Kyd CBE, Lieutenant Governor of Jersey, who is the King’s representative in Jersey. Accompanied by his wife, His Excellency personally presented Doreen with a congratulatory card from Their Majesties The King and Queen, along with a bottle of champagne and a beautifully decorated birthday cake.
Adding to the joy, the St John’s School Choir delighted everyone with a special performance that ended with them singing “Happy Birthday.”
The day was made even more memorable by Doreen’s friends and family, including loved ones who had flown in from Canada especially for the occasion.
Home Manager Ronan said, “Doreen is a breath of fresh air and will always have a witty comment during any conversation. It is a privilege for us all to celebrate her 100th birthday.”
