My name is Ronan Green and I am Home Manager for Beaumont Villa Dementia Care and L’Hermitage. I have 40 years’ experience in a variety of fields, from paediatrics at Great Ormond Street Hospital, overseas work in Palestine, South Africa and Thailand. For 20 years’ of my experience I have worked in Care Home facilities with an emphasis on promoting excellence, adopting a more personalised and holistic approach. I am passionate about supporting and delivering excellent end-of-life care and wound care.

My days are very varied and as part of my role, I listen to my residents, and I visit each of them daily. I update them on any developments and lead the team through collaboration. Answering queries from relatives, other disciplines and ensure all our compliance is on track. I check in daily with all areas of the home and it is important I am seen as a visible entity. I work in my residents’ home; they have chosen to live here and it is a privilege for me to be a part of their life and contribute to their overall wellbeing. I hope I make a positive change that the residents can relate to, even the smallest gesture is important. Seeing our residents and my team laughing and smiling brings me a lot of joy! I believe in a kind and calm approach, as it is essential to imbue a sense of tranquility. It resonates with all who live and visit Beaumont Villa and L’Hermitage, and this translates to improved relationships with all who visit the community.

My biggest achievement personally was climbing Table Mountain, which was incredibly moving. Professionally I am still very passionate about what I do and still get excited about starting my working day, knowing that I still make a difference. I believe that after 40 years, this is an achievement that I do not take lightly. I am passionate about everything I do, personally and professionally, and I know that a sense of excellence has always been my driving force. I am very self-aware and believe in treating others with courtesy and respect, which has stood me well. Care from the Heart is a natural concept for all who work here, and I can see the passion the staff deliver daily in their relationships with those in both Beaumont Villa and L’Hermitage.

Originally from the west coast of Scotland, after many years of travelling and working I decided to relocate to Jersey nine years ago, it is an incredibly beautiful island with a very defined sense of community.
