Wytham House Care Home is situated within the Oaken Holt Estate in Oxfordshire, just a few miles to the West of Oxford, close to the Farmoor Reservoir, and within easy reach of Witney and Kidlington, in the grounds of Oaken Holt Nursing and Residential Home
Wytham House offers residential dementia care and nursing dementia care centred on providing a safe environment in beautiful surroundings. If you look outside the window you will see rabbits, foxes, deer, pheasant and a range of birds, which all our residents love.
Life at Wytham House is different and enjoyable every day. A mixture of activities are held to cater to all resident’s needs. The home has visits from a range of entertainers and exercise groups to enable our residents to live enriched lives and stay as active as possible.

Meet the Manager
Pete is our Home Manager at Wytham House Care Home, here’s a little bit more about himself and the home in his own words:
“Wytham House is a wonderful home-from-home with a fascinating history and a wide range of activities and facilities. There is an energetic and compassionate team working with me to deliver the highest standards of care.
We are really fortunate to have such extensive and beautiful grounds, and it is well-documented what a positive impact being outdoors can have on everyone’s mental wellbeing, so I will be working with my colleagues and our residents to make sure we are making the most of those opportunities.
Every person in our community has a story to tell and our role is to help those stories be told, shared, and understood. We put the individual at the heart of everything we do, celebrating their stories, and helping them write new chapters.”
Getting Social
Friday night some of our residents went up to see the RWB lights turn on and to visited The Miranda Houses table which supporting the Pet Therapy group , a group very close to our heart. Every week we get a visit from Edith the black Labrador and her owner Denise, Denise gives up her own time to visit our residents , and we are very grateful for this . They all look forward to seeing Edith and to talk Denise .

Last week was the start of things to come. Christmas trees 🎄 and a lot of them with the help of a couple of family members we assembled all the trees ready for them to be put up next week . Plus the residents started to get in the swing by cutting out and painting some decorations ready to go up.

Today we ventured out in this awful weather to be part of this wonderful event .
Along with Marsh Farm care home the Wiltshire Hope & Harmony ,Dementia choir hoped to raise awareness and funds by recording a CD to raise money for this wonderful charity that brings so much joy to so many people.
Our residents had such a great time , singing along with everyone.
A big thank you to Cate & Gwen for their help, we all got a little wet , but rest ashore our resident were tucked up nice and warm ,with a nice hot chocolate afterwards.

This is just wonderful. I only have a week off and my lovely residents and team are out and about recording songs with the Dementia Choir in time for Christmas. Just melts your heart. 🥰
Thank you all so so so much for coming along and braving the storm to help us with an incredible recording by Dreambase Studios. Our Musical Director was literally moved to tears when you all appeared- we didn’t expect anyone to come out yesterday… the Charity Album should be released in time for Christmas- with all proceeds going to ensure that community music therapy can be enjoyed and shared by as many people who need it… Thank you x
Wednesday was Zoolap day.
The residents had mixed feelings seeing theses beautiful animals .(reptiles )
You had to be there to see the looks on our residents faces . Never have I seen so many men be scared of a snake 🐍,let alone the stick 🦟..
Even some of the staff got involved.

Today we visited our new neighbours, Wootton Bassett Town council in their new premises.
And presented Mark Hopkins Chief Officer with some nice homemade cookies, that was made by our AriaCare Chef of the year 2024 Michelle Champerlain.
Then off down town for a nice cup of Tea , and some people watching .
