Welcome to Rectory House
Rectory House Nursing Home is situated in the small and friendly village of Sompting in North Worthing, set between the popular local coastline and the South Downs. We are proud to have been regional finalist winners in the Great British Care Awards 2023, for the Social Care Nurse Award.
The residents at Rectory House have plenty of opportunities to access the community and to participate in local groups and events. We take pride in our community links and often have groups from the community to use our big lounge for events and celebrations, in which the residents join in.
The well-being of our residents is at the core of everything we do at Rectory House. With us, they feel a sense of community and support, and they are involved in all activities and events. On a normal day, a resident might enjoy time in the communal areas joining the Breakfast Club, or playing board games and cards with other residents and the team, as well as participating in reminiscing and music therapy.
What does care from the heart mean to the team at Rectory House?
“Fundamentally, we believe that care from the heart is about enabling and providing high-quality care that is tailored to each individual. It is important to us that our residents and loved ones have a sense of consistency and assurance in the standard of care they receive. This is grounded in our resident centric approach, recognising the resident as an individual and developing a relationship with them that allows us to develop the care provided based on their experiences and perspectives. We are people looking after people; caring for them, and driving and inspiring them to influence high standards of care. Our approach is simple: the promotion of the wellbeing of our residents, their relatives, and our colleagues.”

We are proud winners of the Large Care Home Group. Celebrating our commitment to excellence. We are looking forward to continuing with our goal to delivering compassionate and person-centred care.
Hospitality from the heart
We ensure our residents are at the heart of everything we do and each and every one of our communities feels like home. This extends to our hospitality offering.

Meet the Manager
Alicia is our Home Manager at Rectory House Care Home, here’s a little bit more about the home in her own words:
“As the Home Manager I believe in enhancing the lives of our residents and that they should be able to live the life they want. I enjoy spending quality times with them and taking on the responsibilities that come with managing a home. I encourage the inclusion of everyone in the home, to create a friendly environment and a great place for us all to live, work and visit.
I have had various roles all within the health and care sector during my career, starting in a neuro rehabilitation centre as a healthcare assistant and then as a registered nurse following qualification. I then moved to an Acute Rotation role at the local hospital where I gained experience in the cardiac and respiratory wards as well as spending time in Accident and Emergency. From there I then moved into Deputy Manager and Manager roles in care homes.
I operate an open-door policy and am approachable, not only to my team, but to the residents and their relatives too as it is their home. I encourage residents to make their rooms their own, by bringing in personal items to help make it homely for them.
Following my experience of working with people in rehabilitation it has made me understand how important the promotion of independence is and this is something that I promote in the home for our residents and pass on my knowledge to my team.
I love how close our home is to the sea front and that we have a strong connection with the local community, and this is something that I am proud of and want to develop further.
In my spare time I like to spend time with my family and the chance to read a good book, you will also find me singing and dancing due to my background in musical theatre.”
