Oak Manor Nursing Home in the delightful village of Scarning, just outside Dereham, and within easy reach of Fakenham and Swaffham. We are proud to have been regional finalist winners in the Great British Care Awards 2023, for the Care Home Team Award.

Everything that happens in the home is resident-led and follows feedback from residents on how they wish to spend their time and what they enjoy doing. In March 2023 Aria Care embarked on a significant million pound refurbishment programme to improve the communities within our portfolio. We are now busy planning our work at Miranda House, including looking at the colour palettes and furnishings which balance comfort, elegance and functionality.

My husband unexpectedly has ended up in a nursing home. Have no fears about Oak Manor. After only 4 days I have been in tears twice through the overwhelming, palpable love, respect and dignity shown to my husband. I swear the whole team give him more love and care than I could. They are the most incredible team – it’s one family – they’re like cherries from the same tree. Thank you Team Oak Manor.

5🌟service fantastic care home specialist in dementia. All the staff are well trained and empathetic. Great activities both individually and group sessions. Very person centred and all expertly managed from a very supportive approachable Manager
Thank you for everything you do for my family member.

I would strongly recommend this care home for your loved ones living with dementia. It don’t matter how fancy a home looks if the staff aren’t well trained and empathetic and loving towards the residents like they are at Oakmanor 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Lovely Nursing Home. Occasionally visit as ambulance crew as requested by staff. Always impressed by the care and professionalism of all staff, regardless of role. Residents appear very well looked after and cared for. Feels like a ‘home’ , which it obviously is for most.

Meet the Manager

“When residents choose to make Oak Manor their home ‘everyday’ will remain just as they like it, with careful note taken of their preferences, from waking times to food choices, hobbies and interests.”

My name is Laura Older, and I am the Home Manager here at Oak Manor. I have always wanted to work in care, it is my passion and I feel extremely fortunate to be here at Oak Manor.

I began my career in care by volunteering at a nursing home and was offered a job to work around my studies in the kitchen and as a domestic. I loved every second of care home life and started as a full time carer at 18. As I became a senior carer, I decided I would fulfil my dream of becoming a nurse, studying adult nursing and gained a first-class degree with my final placement on a medical ward for elderly patients. Since then, I have worked as an RGN, Senior Nurse, Clinical Lead and Clinical Deputy Manager and Home Manager in care homes. I have since also completed my NVQ level 5 in Leadership and Management. As a qualified nurse I drive the highest standards of person centred care. Although I love being a nurse I also love being a manager, with the ability to influence positive change which I get great satisfaction from.

Getting to know the people we care for, seeing them happy and improving their lives holistically is one of my greatest motivations. Our residents must always be centre of all we do. The whole team at Oak Manor really and truly care for our residents and have 100% commitment to provide the highest levels of care. Spending time with both our residents and my team, as one big family, makes every day special. We are here for you and your loved ones every step of the way to help and will do all we can to put our residents and their families at ease. The most important thing is that they are happy.
