Tall Trees Welcomes Community Dogs for ‘Hearts and Hounds’ Valentine’s Celebration

Residents at Tall Trees enjoyed a heartwarming Valentine’s Day celebration as the team hosted a special ‘Hearts and Hounds’ event, welcoming dogs and their owners from the local community.

The pooches — along with their owners — were treated to pup cups, dog-friendly treats and plenty of fuss and affection from residents. The celebration brought together residents and members of the local community for an afternoon of companionship and joy.

Home Manager Sharon Wassing said: “It was wonderful to see our residents spending time with dogs from the community. Pets are always incredibly popular here, and this event was no exception. Our residents were especially enchanted by Bertie, a four-month-old cockapoo who stole everyone’s hearts.

“Thanks so much to everyone who brought their dogs along and made the event so special. We’ll be launching a monthly dog café for residents and members of the community to enjoy together, where all will be very welcome.”

Events like ‘Hearts and Hounds’ highlight the many benefits of animal interaction in care settings. Spending time with pets can reduce stress and blood pressure, provide emotional comfort and companionship, and spark meaningful memories — particularly for people living with dementia.

Angela, one of our residents, said: “I always used to have dogs at home — especially labradors — so it was lovely to see so many here today. I really enjoyed stroking them, particularly the little puppy. He was so sweet!”
