Residents at Southlands Place Care Home were treated to a wonderful Christmas show by The Dot Collective in the lead up to the big day!
The Dot Collective are a charity who provide professional theatre to those in care, which helps reduce isolation and create positive experiences for those living with dementia. The play was performed in the cinema room at the home and the company brought in all its own props and scenery, stage and lighting.
The afternoon performance had a huge attendance from our residents, as well as some previous Southlands Place respite residents. We also welcomed some of our local stakeholders, who enjoyed this special time with our residents.
It was an amazing show, which consisted of puppets, dance, movement and music. The Dot Collective professional team transformed our cinema room into a pop-up theatre. It immersed our residents into the world of the play, bringing the aesthetics that you would expect to see when attending an actual theatre.
The overall feedback was incredible and our residents and guests thoroughly enjoyed the performance and the experience. One of our Southlands Place residents, Jim said “it was so wonderful to meet and watch the very best of performances, thoroughly wonderful! Merry Christmas”.
