Earlier this month, the residents and team at Southlands Place Care Home in Bexhill-on-Sea hosted their annual Harvest Festival.
Traditionally held on the Sunday closest to the harvest moon, the festival is a time to celebrate, reflect, and show gratitude for a successful harvest season.
Joined by their family and friends, the residents enjoyed a cosy craft afternoon decorating gonks and drinking hot chocolate. Everyone had a choice of what style gonk they would like to design along with different materials and accessories.
Followed by an evening jacket potato bar, family and friends were invited to stay and enjoy dinner with their loved ones. Spoilt for choice, the toppings on offer included chicken curry, chilli, tuna, cheese, and beans with a side salad and fruit crumble for dessert.
Wellbeing Coordinator Alex said, “we saw some wonderful creations and I think it’s safe to say we all had a great time. We have even been convinced to do another one for Christmas. Thank you to all who came and joined us.”
Resident Hannah added, “I had a fantastic afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed myself.”
To give back to the community, the home also collected donations for the local food bank.
