Last week, Southlands Place care home in Bexhill-on-Sea welcomed two giant African land snails Peaches and Pebbles into their family.
Peaches and Pebbles even have their own care plan poster which allows our residents to learn about their needs and help look after them. Residents have been holding them, spraying their tank with water and feeding them their favourite foods.
They took centre stage and joined the residents this week for their weekly art club which has become one of our most popular activities and seems to grow each week. Art club is a relaxing afternoon where the home comes together, listens to music, chats, drink tea and coffee and gets creative. Peter, a resident at Southlands Place commented, “I loved coming to art club as I love being surrounded by all my lovely friends.”
Inspired by their new pet snails, the residents sketched and coloured in drawings of them. Placed in the middle of the table, Peaches and Pebbles didn’t stay put for long and soon moved all around the table which humoured the residents.
Southlands Place Care Home provides residential, nursing and dementia care on a permanent and short-stay basis. If you are looking for a care home and want to find out more about our home call us on freephone 0808 202 3303.
