Oaklands House Care Centre residents and staff recently embarked on a trip to the nearby Hollywood Bowl, where they enjoyed a fun afternoon of ten-pin bowling. The participating resident’s competitive nature didn’t take long to surface, with Irene, John and Fred battling for the honour of being crowned Oaklands House Bowling champion!
The atmosphere inside Hollywood Bowl, with many competing sensory sounds and colours, enlivened the occasion. The sound of the arcade games and the bright colours brought back fond memories of youthful fun playing slot machines in arcades.
The match eventually concluded with a narrow victory for Irene, but the desire to continue competing persisted, with a visit to the air hockey table. Irene and John had a great game smashing pucks back and forth, with the game concluding in a draw.
After a delightful time playing games, the residents relaxed with a well-deserved coffee. Another fun day of ten-pin bowling for the residents and staff of Oaklands House Nursing Home, which they are unsurprisingly keen to repeat!
