Creativity Takes Flight at Oaklands: Raised Salt Art & Butterfly Crafts
Residents at Oaklands House Care Centre recently enjoyed a vibrant weekend of artistic exploration, embracing their creative talents through a wonderfully tactile Raised Salt Art activity.
The session began with residents mixing salt with a variety of food colourings, resulting in a palette of beautifully textured materials. With glue carefully applied to paper, they then sprinkled their colourful salt blends to form expressive and eye-catching designs.
While some residents followed pre-drawn butterfly templates, many let their creativity soar, producing unique pieces that reflected their individual flair. A generous touch of glitter added an extra sparkle, bringing even more joy to the artwork.
In addition to salt painting, residents crafted delicate butterflies using cut-out paper plates—turning simple everyday materials into stunning decorations.
The atmosphere was filled with laughter, colour, and a real sense of shared joy. These creative moments reflect the warm, inclusive spirit of life at Oaklands, where meaningful engagement and self-expression are always encouraged.
