Oak Manor awarded ‘Michelin star’ of dementia care

Dementia Accreditation Launch Event at Oak Manor Care Home

We are delighted to announce that Oak Manor Care Home in Dereham has become the first of our homes to be awarded a special dementia accreditation; the ‘Michelin star’ of dementia care.

During an event held at the home on Tuesday, 20th September guests enjoyed a celebratory event with drinks and homemade treats made by the home’s chef manager before hearing more about the accreditation itself and a session designed to simulate the impact of living with dementia.

We forecast that, by 2023, more than 900 of our residents will be living with dementia. This is likely to increase to more than 1,000 by the end of 2024.

Based on a quarter of a century of experience, our team knows that dementia is different for everyone and so is the care residents receive.

It forms our approach to providing high quality care, training, care home design as well as advice and support for individuals and their families. In summary, the strategy delivers seven commitments, each with specific actions to ensure it continues to improve the lives of people living with dementia.

Home manager, Laura Smith, said: “The event went very well, it was a lovely day. We are delighted to be the first home to achieve the accreditation and it is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the brilliant team here at Oak Manor.

“The number of people living with dementia continues to grow and here at aria care, it is so important to us that we are ahead of the curve when it comes to providing the very best dementia care for our residents, their families and our staff.”

The accreditation scheme is unique to aria care and is not going to be a one off, with a plan to re-evaluate the accreditation every year, checking standards and looking at how the scheme can be further developed.
