Congratulations to our care team in Wimborne who are celebrating after a recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection saw their rating improve to ‘Good’ having been recognised for being ‘safe and well-led’.
Magna Care Home, which provides residential care, nursing care and palliative care, was praised for its ‘open and supportive culture’.
Inspectors from the CQC noted that management systems and auditing had improved since the last inspection and now provided robust oversight including environmental risks, fire safety, medicines management and mental capacity assessments.
The care home, based in Arrowsmith Road, was praised for its excellent communication with relatives, with one stating: “I receive up-to-date emails from the care home and on the occasions when I have phoned they have been most helpful.”
Another relative said: “I feel included in all that goes on at Magna. I’m communicated with on a regular basis and engaged with the family and friends activities that take place throughout the year.”
Kayleigh Frulli, home manager at Magna Care Centre, has attributed the ‘Good’ rating to her staff.
She said: “This report by the CQC is a true testament to our staff’s dedication, commitment and the hard work they demonstrate every day.
“The whole team has worked extremely hard to ensure the action plan dedicated to getting our rating up was enforced and that shows in this fantastic result.
“I would like to thank our care team and wider workforce who have helped us achieve this, and particularly to our residents and relatives for their ongoing support; your feedback is always appreciated.”
Manager Kayleigh received special praise herself from the inspectors for ‘promoting a positive culture that is person-centred, open, inclusive and empowering’.
The CQC report also found that staff were actively encouraged and supported to gain new skills and qualifications. One staff member said: “There are always new opportunities to progress and grow within the home should we choose to, and I’m always improving my skills.
She added: “A lot of training is offered all the time and I feel supported and challenged.”
Relatives were keen to highlight the openness of the home, with visits from family and friends always encouraged.
Aria Care looks to continuously improve services and the team at Magna Care Centre is already working on the next plan based on the organisational values and ethos of person-centred care.
