Deputy Manager Melissa at Magna Care Centre has taken fundraising for good causes to new heights by braving a skydive challenge. Raising money for Alzheimer’s Society, a charity close to our hearts, Melissa raised just over £750 as she braved a skydive from the height of 15,000ft!
The Alzheimer’s Society encourages individuals to take on a skydive describing the challenge as ‘One giant leap for life-changing dementia support for those who need it most. Together we can make sure no one faces dementia alone.’
This mission resonated with Melissa who says it is a cause close to her heart. She explains, “I’ve been working in the care sector for over 11 years. I am so grateful to be able to say that I love my job and the positive difference it makes in people’s lives. Alzheimer’s affects so many people, and it never gets easier for me to see an individual who no longer recognises their loved ones. Now I am sure there is a safer way of fundraising, but life is to be enjoyed and to be lived to the fullest! Together, we can try our best to do our bit to help these individuals and their families have a better future.”
Our resident, commonly known at Magna Care Centre as ‘Raffle Roy’ was keen to help Melissa fundraise by selling raffle tickets and getting sponsors by the main entrance of the home. Melissa and Roy worked hard together to raise the money together. A heartfelt thanks go out to Melissa and Roy.
