Residents and staff at Magna Care Centre celebrated the Platinum Jubilee in style with a High Tea, a family and friends BBQ, a singsong and a raffle! The home was decorated for the occasion in patriotic red, white and blue bunting and Union Jack flags in honour of Her Majesty.
Earlier this year Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee. This marked her 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.
Preparation for the festivities started with Head Chef Lisa teaching Debbie and Tegan hot to make modified High Tea. So much thought and time was put into the food to ensure it was an inclusive dining experience for all.
The residents then started the celebrations by watching the Trooping of the Colour, followed by the delicious High Tea. This was accompanied by the beautiful singing from our lovely Eileen. We all made the most of the sunshine the following lunchtime by enjoying ‘Liz’s Plaice Shop’ traditional fish and chips served in a shop styled box.
The next day we invited friends and family to join us for a wonderful BBQ, enjoying a singsong with Eileen, who sang favourites from the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s. We ended the day with ‘Roy’s raffle’, which everyone enjoyed and where we had lots of lucky winners.
We all had a lovely time, enjoying the entertainment and the party was a real triumph. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who joined us and supported us to make it such a wonderful occasion for our residents and their families.
