Magna Care Centre in Wimborne commemorated the 80th anniversary of D-Day with a poignant ceremony, paying tribute to the brave veterans who served during World War II.
The event, which included a visit from the Bournemouth, Poole, and District Branch of the Royal Tank Regiment Association, left a lasting impression on all who attended.
The highlight of the ceremony was a beautiful commemoration service, graced by veterans who shared their experiences and memories of that pivotal moment in history. A skilled bugle player performed “The Last Post,” followed by the lowering of flags.
“We held the event to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who stormed the beaches of Normandy 80 years ago,” said home manager Kayleigh Frulli. “Their bravery and resilience continue to inspire us all.”
The team and residents at Magna Care Centre were also joined by the 17th Bournemouth Scouts, Cubs, and Beavers.
Brothers Ian and Kevin Rockett contributed to the commemoration with their meticulously restored Willy’s jeeps, authentic reminders of the equipment used during the war. The Kinson Masonic Lodge provided engaging games, whilst The Land Girls led a moving sing-along session.
