A resident at Magna Care Home decided to hold a fundraiser raffle for a charity that is very close to his heart – Sense.
Sense is a charity that supports everyone who is deafblind or has complex disabilities. They believe everyone should be able to take part in life, no matter their disability. They support those people with deaf blindness or complex disabilities to communicate, experience the world and fulfil their potential.
Our resident had a sister who passed away due to deaf blindness, and he asked the Wellbeing Team and his friends to help him raise money for this charity.
Our team made Sense our charity of the month and helped put together a raffle. Families, friends, and staff donated prizes. Emily from the wellbeing team arranged for a representative from Sense to come and give a guest talk about the charity and what they do.
Our residents presented the charity with a cheque for £170. The raffle raised this amount by selling tickets to staff members, family and friends and members of the local community including our own GP.
Thank you to everyone who got involved and helped to raise the money for Sense.
