The residents and team at Magna Care Centre in Wimborne had a fabulous week last week as they made the most of the wonderful weather, rolled up their sleeves and spent time outside in their grounds and gardens for Aria in Bloom, taking the opportunity to transform their outdoor spaces with bursts of colour and life as summer approaches. With RHS National Gardening Week taking place from 28th April – 4th May it presented the ideal occasion to highlight the positive impact gardens and gardening can have on the lives of people living in our communities and across the UK.
Thanks to the wonderful students from Canford Magna School who joined the home and completely transformed the pots with cheerful home-grown flowers donated by green-fingered family members, Linda and Keven, the space is now bursting with colour for all to enjoy. The team then focused on the inner courtyard garden with the help of the local community including the postman, doctor and pharmacist who joined to help spruce up the sensory garden. Together they built birdhouses, hung pretty butterfly ornaments and planted fragrant herbs and juicy tomatoes.
The management and ancillary team lent a hand to hang baskets high and made sure everything was thoroughly watered and cared for.
June and her daughter Glynis joined forces with Ian and the wellbeing lead Claire to sow the seeds for the wild garden. Glynis also generously donated a bee and insect water station to help keep the pollinators happy and hydrated.
As you can see it was a local community affair with so many people popping by to help with the project and the fantastic week of planting, fixing, watering and nuturing ended with the grand reveal of the Magna Bee Hive! in partnership with the local farmers Ian and Chris from Snooks Farm. The hive will be lovingly cared for and will soon provide fresh, local Magna honey for everyone living and working at the home to enjoy. The team even upcycled an old cabinet to create their very own Honey Shop, stocked with a delightful selection of honey and alpaca wool products for visitors to purchase.
Everyone at the home is so proud to support the local farming community and appreciate all the help received over the week to make the gardens ready for summer for the residents and team to enjoy. It is wonderful to see what has been achieved and look forward to seeing the residents having a space to relax and make memories in the coming months.
