Finding a care home for yourself or a loved one can be an emotional process, with there being a lot of questions around how the care will be funded and what it will cost.
The care for older people in the UK is not free to everyone, the funding support that you are entitled to will depend on your personal financial circumstances as well as where you live in the UK. The average cost of residential care in the UK is £4,212 per month to give you an idea on what to expect.
What do care home fees include?
Each of our communities are unique and are located across England, Scotland and Jersey with weekly fee structures in place to reflect the type of care and stay required.
Care home costs will be dependent on what care services you receive and the level of care that is required. For example, a person living with dementia will need specialist care and require more support than someone without dementia. There are also options to look at around the length of stay will it be permanent or for a respite stay which will also effect the care home charges.
Residents receive 24 hour care and support offering peace of mind for loved ones. In addition to care costs, care home fees will also include laundry, meals / hospitality, all utilities and other accommodation costs, cleaning, daily activities and lifestyle programme and much more on a home-by-home basis. Fees can also vary depending on the rooms as well, for example so they have an ensuite bathroom. All rooms at Aria Care are individually priced based on size, location and amenities.
Why are nursing care fees higher than residential care?
The main difference between residential care and nursing care is the level of support residents receive when it comes to their health. Nursing care involves more personalised health tasks and management of their medications. Residents will receive the same kind of care as residential, support with everyday tasks such as dressing and eating, but then on top of this they will receive nursing care to meet their induvial care and medical needs, which then effects the care home fees.
Who pays for care home costs?
Finding and funding care for yourself or a loved one is a very personal process and the funding of this will depend on how much money you have and the value of your assets. It will require your care needs to be assessed and following this if needed a financial assessment to determine whether you qualify for local authority funding or if you will need to self-fund. We have put together our ‘Guide to funding the cost of care’.
