The team at Ivy Court Nursing Home in Norwich recently celebrated World Food Day by bringing in dishes from their home countries for a buffet, aiming to raise awareness about world hunger. It was also a great opportunity to celebrate the many cultures of the Ivy Court team.
Home manager, Ovi, wellbeing coordinator, Diana, and nurse, Adrian, are all from Romania. Diana brought in some Sarmale, a delicacy served during celebratory times, with pork, rice and bacon wrapped in a cabbage roll. Her Romanian crescent butter cookies were also a favourite with residents and the team.
Ovi fired up the grill in the garden, cooking smoked ribs and ‘mici’, a traditional dish consisting of ground beef and pork and a mixture of fragrant spices.
Justyna brought in some traditional Polish dumplings and Vergilio and Grace shared the delicious cuisine of the Philippines; their chicken noodles and pork adobo went down a treat with everyone.
The whole team did a great job, putting together a huge buffet of amazing dishes representing the many nations of the Ivy Court team, also including Nigeria, Kenya and India.
Ivy Court are so proud to have such a culturally diverse team as well as some great cooks! The team pulled together once again for a successful day dedicated to a very special cause.
