The residents, team, families and friends at Ivy Court Care Home have held their own Memory Walk supporting the Alzheimer’s Society initiative and put their own unique touches to it for all to enjoy.
So that everyone could get involved and to bring back wonderful memories for our residents the home decorated various rooms so that they were in the style of various eras through history. There were a range of areas including a 40-50’s themed and 60-70’s theme, along with a Gatsby inspired room to celebrate the 20-30’s (which can be seen below).
There was also music playing and a range of refreshments for people to enjoy on their walk as they took in all the eras on their way. Some people decided to get dressed up for the occasion as well to showcase their favourite era.
Throughout the autumn there are a series of Memory Walks happening across the UK and people are invited to join in one of these or hold their own. They are all to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society which is such a worthwhile cause and every walk gives people the chance to show their support to anyone living with dementia or in memory of someone special.
Mollie Hunt, Customer Relations Advisor at Ivy Court Care Home said about the event “we want to raise as much money as we can for such a worthwhile cause and ensure the residents, family and friends have fun whilst doing so.”
Such a fantastic idea and well done to all that took part!
