Residents at Ivy Court Care Home welcomed some special pre-Christmas guests this month. Our residents love animals and our activities team made it happen by contacting local lady Gail who owns over 20 alpacas.
The alpacas, dressed in their festive jumpers, walked all around the home and even went into the lift! They started their visit in the bistro and made their way through the lounges and upstairs to visit all our residents.
Animal-assisted therapy is a growing area that uses all types of animals to help people recover or cope better with health problems. It has been proven that contact with animals can help depression, loneliness, boredom and anxiety.
Chloe and Diana, our activity co-ordinators, along with our wonderful volunteer Glynis organised for the alpacas to come into Ivy Court for a few hours and the lovely animals were introduced to our residents. “The alpacas were so cute and it was really nice to be able to lead them around the garden,” said Glynis.
Ivy Court provides residential, nursing and dementia care on a permanent or short stay basis. If you are looking for a care home and want to find out more about our home call freephone 0808 202 0478.
