Garth House Care Home in Dorking hosted a heartfelt Remembrance Day event in honour of the brave men and women who served the country. Relatives joined the residents and team for a day of reflection together, starting with a 2-minute silence to pay their respects.
Remembrance Day has been more like Remembrance Week for residents who, leading up to the occasion, have spent the week reading war poems and letters, enjoying some wartime word searches and games and watching some fascinating documentaries.
On the day, residents and relatives had a lovely time chatting, sharing stories and enjoying the tasty treats the hospitality team laid on. Music therapist and musician, Kwaku Tieku, visited the home to entertain everyone with a medley of wartime songs like We’ll Meet Again and Pick Up Your Troubles and everyone had a good old singalong!
