Dorking Nursery visit Garth House

Recently, Garth House Care Home in Dorking invited the children of Dorking Nursery School to visit the home and meet residents as part of the home’s intergenerational project.

Intergenerational activities are a great opportunity for residents to make meaningful connections with a younger generation, enjoy some playful activities and bring out their inner child! This has been shown to significantly improve mental health and emotional wellbeing in older adults in care homes and is also a great way for children to improve their social skills and learn about another generation.

Residents had a lovely time meeting the children, playing games and colouring in together while chatting amongst themselves about their excitement for Christmas and what the children asked Santa for. To get in the festive spirit, everyone sang Jingle Bells and other Christmas songs together, and Garth House was full of song and laughter for the day. Resident, Jill, commented that “it was a lovely morning dancing and colouring with the children!”

Garth House Care Home provides residential, nursing and dementia care on a permanent and short stay basis. If you are looking for a care home and want to find out more about our home, call us on freephone 01306333183.
