What does care from the heart mean to the team at Marchglen?
“By getting to know the residents, the team know how to support them to do what they love. This can involve participation in arts and crafts, celebrations of special days, entertainment just for the fun of it, shopping, support to go on holiday, pet therapy and most recently involvement with local charity Cycling without Age, where residents can be taken for a spin in a trishaw bike.”

Meet the Manager
Tracy, our Home Manager at Marchglen Care Centre, shares an insight into her role and what drives her passion for care:
“With over 30 years of experience as a nurse and manager, I have dedicated my career to supporting individuals with complex needs to live the lives they choose. My primary focus has been on assisting people with cognitive and learning disabilities to maximise their independence and access to local communities.
After working in a nurse consultancy role, advising on the impact of disabilities caused by health conditions, I returned to home management. This decision was driven by my desire to reconnect directly with residents and their families, as I missed the personal interaction and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
As a collaborative manager with extensive experience, I have a wealth of knowledge in supporting residents through person-centred planning. My goal remains to place residents at the heart of all decisions affecting their care. I find great joy in seeing individuals grow and live the lives they choose. It’s rewarding to watch both teams and residents gain independence and autonomy. For me, care provision must come from the heart, driven by empathy, and the passion to include both families and residents in all decisions affecting their lives.”
