Last month, Care Assistant Davina Goodman who works at East Hill House Residential Care Home in Liss took part in Dementia UK’s Walk 30 Miles in September challenge.
Dementia UK is a specialist dementia nursing charity that provides free advice and support to help families care for their loved ones. From walking to cycling, they run several events throughout the year to fundraise for families facing dementia.
Setting herself the challenge of walking 30 miles in 30 days for Dementia UK, Davina achieved her goal by walking every day after work and on the weekend around Liss. One of her highlights of the challenge was when her colleague Moya joined her, they walked from East Hill House to Petersfield Square (4.1 miles in total).
With the support from her colleagues, Rehoboth Christian Fellowship church members, and the local community, she managed to raise £315 for the charity. Well done, Davina!
Davina commented, “I am always willing to play my part in raising awareness and supporting in whatever way I can.”
