Double birthday celebrations at Galsworthy House

Recently at Galsworthy House Nursing Home in Kingston-upon-Thames, the team and residents came together to celebrate two very special birthdays: Dennis, who turned 92, and Isobel, who turned 102.

Resident Dennis, originally from Zimbabwe, is a proud father who spent many years working as a bank manager at Barclays Bank in his home country. Known for his love of independence and peaceful moments, Dennis always makes the team laugh with a joke (or two).

Resident Isobel, whose mother was French and father English, speaks fluent French and is a proud mother of four, with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During World War II, she served as a nurse with the Red Cross. After the war, she spent time in Calcutta, where she had the amazing experience of working as Mother Teresa’s chauffeur.

When asked about the secret to a long life, Dennis replied, “Chocolate, lots of it.”  Isobel added, “A good cup of tea or a glass of wine. “

The team went all out with balloons, banners, and a delicious homemade cake thanks to their talented chef, Nader. They were joined by family and friends who visited throughout the day, bringing cards and gifts.

Wellbeing Coordinator Ruth said, “It was truly a joy to celebrate two such wonderful lives.”
