Last week, the residents and team at Solent Grange Nursing Home on the Isle of Wight were busy sprucing up their garden for Aria in Bloom.
The project began with a residents’ meeting, where they shared their ideas and visions for the garden. At the top of their wish lists were large garden gnomes, a vegetable patch, solar lights, and a comfortable place to sit and enjoy the garden all year round.
To prepare the area, the team jet-washed the fence and paving slabs. Thanks to the help from the team, residents, relatives and volunteers, along with the generous support from a local business, WightPave Landscapes, who delivered the topsoil, the garden was already starting to transform.
All the residents enjoyed being in the garden and helping to transform the outdoor space. For a personalised touch, each resident will have a panel on the back fence where they can add their handprint and name. Once complete, this will be a lovely tribute to the Solent Grange community.
To celebrate all of their hard work and the success of the project, the team and residents enjoyed a well-deserved BBQ with friends and family.
Lifestyle Lead Leah said, “The residents are really overwhelmed at how beautiful the garden is now looking. They’re especially excited to have vegetables such as beetroot, cauliflower, peas and peppers, as well as a herb garden. They can’t wait to be able to smell the mint, basil and peppermint.”
