The whole team at Riverside Place Care Home made the Coronation weekend once to remember for the residents. They celebrated the Coronation of King Charles III by having a street party – indoors!
A momentous event in our history, the Coronation of King Charles III and his wife, Camilla, as king and queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. It took on Saturday 6th May at Westminster Abbey and many of our homes organised celebrations to mark this occasion.
Our residents started off the day watching the service on television, whilst enjoying champagne and nibbles. This was then followed by a fabulous ‘indoor’ Street Party, where our chefs excelled themselves with a wonderful spread for our residents. We then spent a lovely afternoon singing with our wonderful volunteer Kevin.
Our residents reminisced on the previous coronation, Pat said “it was a bit different watching on a big screen , I can remember the last Coronation when we watched in a crowded room on a tiny little TV”.
They also sang their praises on the food, with Evelyn saying “the buffet was wonderful , the quiche superb!”.
Our party at Riverside Place was a wonderful and fitting tribute to the new King and his wife.
