In a festive display of community engagement, residents and colleagues at Riverside Place Care Home in Ware have named the latest additions to the Hertfordshire gritter fleet.
The newest gritters are now part of a comprehensive fleet of approximately 70 vehicles, with names like “Putting on the Gritz,” “Snowbody Does It Better,” “Scooperman,” and “Salt of the Earth.”
To determine the perfect names for the new gritters, the home organised a competition among the residents. The competition featured comical and pun-filled suggestions, and the final selection were chosen through a vote.
Last week, members of Hertfordshire County Council and one of the newly named gritters paid a visit to Riverside Place where residents got a chance to find out more about the work they do.
Ron, a resident at Riverside Place, expressed his excitement, stating, “I will look forward to looking out for them as they pass by; they do a fabulous job.”
