Earlier this month, the residents at Riverside Place Care Home in Ware had an Italian-themed day to launch their new ‘Armchair Travel Club’.
To celebrate all the different cultures and traditions around the world, the home has recently started an ‘Armchair Travel Club’ for the residents. A brand-new activity to encourage creativity and wellness, the first session was all about Italy.
A fun day filled with virtual travel, nostalgic holiday stories, delicious food, and singing along with songs. The talented wellbeing team made it extra special by creating passports and boarding passes for the residents.
Wellbeing Coordinator Lyn Wilkie commented, “we started the day with an Italian-inspired quiz and enjoyed Italian music before a virtual tour of the country in the afternoon. In the evening, we enjoyed traditional dishes of Italy such as arancini balls, lasagne, garlic bread, and tiramisu. There was lots of reminiscing about trips to this beautiful country. Our wonderful Wellbeing Coordinator Sally played the part of air hostess, sharing information over the microphone much to the resident’s amusement.”
Vicky (resident Joyce’s daughter) said, “I haven’t seen mum laugh like this for so long.”
