Residents, their families and the team at Riverside Place Care Home celebrated National Beer Day earlier this month. They combined this with their Around the World cuisine activity, where every month the home serves dishes from a different country.
Our Chef prepared a special menu for National Beer Day. The menu included jellied eel, pie and mash, and traditional spotted dick for dessert. We asked Peter George, a local performer, to sing Cockney songs to our residents and guests. They enjoyed beer and shandies while he performed.
It was such a lovely day, we held the event in our garden. Everyone had a great time with the singing, food, and drinks. Marjory, one of our residents, expressed her love for the old songs. “I love those old songs, it makes me think of my mum who sang them all”.
