The residents and team at Rendlesham Care Centre in Rendlesham came together to mark and celebrate the 80th Anniversary of VE Day, which was a significant day for the home. The celebrations started with the residents getting outside on the balcony on Monday to watch the amazing fly-past whilst waving their Union Jack flags, for one resident Pat this meant a great deal to her as her husband was in the RAF. After the fly-past the celebrations then went inside as they joined together in the lounge to watch the VE day parade in London, like so many people in the country, which was wonderful to see.
On Thursday everyone celebrated further with a street style party, joined by the very talented Ellie Foulger, who provided music for all to enjoy, which was followed by a buffet lunch, lovingly prepared by the hospitality team. After everyone had finished eating and singing things got slightly competitive with a quiz and some games.
To mark such a poignant day the home had a beautiful wreath made by a local florist, Windmills Florist in Woodbridge, which some residents including Duncan joined the home manager Pearl in laying it by the war memorial across the road from the home.
