The residents and colleagues at Rendlesham Care Centre, in Rendlesham, near Woodbridge, were joined by relatives and the local community as they came together to transform their grounds as part of our nationwide campaign Aria in Bloom.
After the success of Aria in Bloom last year when it was launched, we wanted to get involved to make this year’s competition even better and make our gardens beautiful for the people living in our community.
Rendlesham residents and colleagues were very enthusiastic about the Aria in Bloom initiative – as they already run their own gardening club. The idea for this came from Home Manager Maxine Smith who sees the benefits for our residents and the local community alike.
She says, “ We have such an ideal outdoor space here at the home, it’s only fitting to open this up to local gardening enthusiasts. We’ve got some regular green-fingered friends who join us each week, and the popularity of our gardening club is really growing!”
The sun was shining adding to the success of the day and the results were truly impressive. As part of RHS National Gardening Week taking place in May, it was a great opportunity for us to get involved in the Big Seed Sow initiative, a community-growing campaign designed to get communities, groups and individuals sowing and sharing seeds. This year we planted Californian Poppy and Love-Lies-Bleeding seeds.
The winning home and runners up will be chosen in the next few weeks when the plants and flowers have bloomed and the results can be seen in full effect.
