The team and residents at Mount Pleasant Care Home in Burton-on-Trent recently visited Beeches Park Day Nursery so residents and children could spend some time together.
The nursery often visits Mount Pleasant and the wellbeing team thought it would be a nice change to go and see them.
Intergenerational activities are so beneficial for older people and care home residents as they provide the opportunity for socialising as well as bringing out the kid in them, encouraging playfulness and creativity. It’s also a great educational activity for children, helping their social development and teaching them about another generation.
Residents joined the children for a teddy bear’s picnic and arts and crafts, enjoying each other’s company for the day – there were smiles and laughter all around.
After a fun and wholesome day spent at Beeches Park, resident, Angie commented that it was “such a lovely day with the little ones! I hope to see them all again soon.”
