Miranda House Care Home in Wootton Bassett is hosting a charity cycling challenge, with participants cycling for 24 hours straight, taking turns to keep the pedals turning.
Miranda House is inviting the local community to support the event on 18 April, with all money raised donated to the Alzheimer’s Society.
The challenge is being undertaken jointly by home manager Mandi Short and her cycling group the Swindon Wheelers, with support from the local and parish council, who will be in attendance.
Mandi said: “We are excited to be hosting this cycle challenge and hope to raise as much money as possible for this important cause. It’s vital we continue to raise awareness about the impact of dementia on individuals and their families, and how people can continue to live well.
“We’re thrilled to have the support of the council and the Swindon Wheelers and we’re hoping for a great turnout with lots of support for our cyclists!”
Alongside the cycle challenge, the home is running a Facebook competition inviting followers to guess the mileage cycled during the event. The person who guesses closest to the final mileage will win a hamper.
Those interested in supporting the event can donate through Miranda House’s JustGiving page. Follow the care home’s Facebook page for more information about the event and the guess the mileage competition.
The community are invited to join the team at any time during the event on the 18th from 9am.
