Recently at Knowle Park Nursing Home in Cranleigh, the residents enjoyed music therapy with Kiddleydivey.
Providing music and movement programmes since 1996, Kiddleydivey uses music as a therapeutic tool to provide fun-filled sessions for children, the elderly, and those with additional needs. They use specially edited versions of music combined with props to facilitate and encourage movement, social interaction, and memory function.
Joined by Linley (music leader) from Kiddleydivey, the residents gathered in the drawing room where the outdoor view and the brightness of the room added to the joy of the session. Combining chair-based exercises with music to stimulate the resident’s minds, they enjoyed sensory movements with musical instruments, colourful scarves, and feathers.
Activities Lead Mitra Keray said, “music and movement help the residents’ wellbeing, and this chair exercise is an addition to the frequent activities planned to improve and maintain their health and happiness.”
