Celebrating a Decade at Huntercombe Hall

Sharon long service Huntercombe Hall

In May everyone at Huntercombe Hall Care Home in Henley-on-Thames celebrated their amazing team and special milestones at the home. A huge congratulations to Sharon Hunt who received her long service award for an incredible 10 years of dedication and care, with everyone wanting to show their appreciation for everything she does. Home manager Catia commented “your commitment over the past decade has had such a positive impact on all our residents and colleagues alike – thank you for everything you do!” as she presented Sharon with her certificate and present to mark the special occasion.

Sharon is Care Home Assistant Practitioner at the home as well as dementia champion. As dementia champion she plays a vital role in supporting the residents and their families affected by dementia, which she does with compassion, expertise and dedication. She ensures that every resident receives person-centred care tailored to their unique needs. As well as providing emotional support and practical guidance to families helping them to navigate and understand their loved ones’ experiences. She advocates for a dementia-friendly environment, promoting meaningful activities that enhance residents’ wellbeing and preserve their dignity. In addition Sharon offers training and advice to colleagues ensuring they have the knowledge and skills to deliver compassionate exceptional dementia care. Through her leadership and commitment, she fosters a culture of understanding, respect, and support, making a profound difference to the lives of those living with dementia.

Over the decade at the home Sharon has a number of memorable experiences to reflect on but when asked what stood out she said “getting to know the residents and following through their full care journey with us” as well as saying “ I enjoy taking residents out on trips and watching their faces and how happy they are, as well as watching them succeed in doing things that they may have found difficult but then the satisfaction when they do it is amazing to see!”

When asked ‘what does care from the heart mean to you’? Sharon commented “Making a difference to our residents’ lives and watching them succeed. Taking the good and bad days as they come and continue to work as a team. Looking after them when they are unwell and getting them better. I am proud to help individuals.”

Sharon is an amazing part of the team at Huntercombe Hall and a huge congratulations and thank you from everyone on your milestone and here is to many more years.
