Dormy House residents honour Remembrance Day

Last week, the residents at Dormy House Care Home in Sunningdale commemorated Remembrance Day by creating handmade decorations, singing wartime songs, and watching the televised service.

Bringing a meaningful touch to the home, the residents and wellbeing team prepared handmade poppy decorations for their Remembrance Day celebration.

Wellbeing Lead Mariann Walker said, “it was wonderful to see our care team involved in arts and crafts with the residents, creating a joyful and shared experience. This interaction not only brought smiles but also strengthened the bond between residents and caregivers as they collaborated.”

On Friday, they held a wonderful celebration with singer Jimmy Kent, taking a step back in time with classic wartime songs that brought back cherished memories for all.

Home Manager Carmela said, “Jimmy’s fantastic voice and excellent sound setup made it a truly memorable show, filling our residents’ hearts with happiness as many enjoyed singing along.”

On Remembrance Sunday, the residents and team came together in a moving tribute, observing a minute’s silence to honour the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces, veterans, and their families.
