The residents and colleagues at Dormy House Care Home in Sunningdale had great fun as they came together to spruce up the gardens as part of our nationwide campaign Aria in Bloom.
After the success of Aria in Bloom last year when it was launched, we wanted to get involved to make this year’s competition even better and make our gardens beautiful for the people living in our community.
Our residents and the team have been busy preparing for this annual event. It is wonderful to showcase some of the lovely arts and crafts the residents created in less clement weather, which are now showcased in our courtyard.
These include flower pot men enjoying the sunshine and decorative plates used to showcase our sensory trellis , filled with herbs and beautiful flora. At the front of our home we have added some lovely hanging baskets and an arrangement of bedding plants.
The sun was shining adding to the success of the day and the results were truly impressive. As part of RHS National Gardening Week taking place in May, it was a great opportunity for us to get involved in the Big Seed Sow initiative, a community-growing campaign designed to get communities, groups and individuals sowing and sharing seeds. This year we planted Californian Poppy and Love-Lies-Bleeding seeds.
Home Manager Carmela Magbitang commented on the success of Aria in Bloom, “It’s incredible to see how Aria in Bloom has brought everyone together to make such a beautiful change in our community. The support and enthusiasm from everyone involved have truly made a difference in enhancing our outdoor spaces.”
The winning home and runners up will be chosen in the next few weeks when the plants and flowers have bloomed and the results can be seen in full effect.
