Terry Scores Big with His Love for Football!
At Denham Manor, one resident’s lifelong enthusiasm for football has helped create a year filled with new friendships and meaningful experiences.
A committed Queens Park Rangers (QPR) supporter, Terry quickly discovered that Home Manager, Chris, shares his passion for the game. Together with Terry’s family, they developed a personalised engagement plan centred around football — reflecting the home’s focus on care that recognises and celebrates each resident’s interests.
Weekly “Soccer 6” sessions soon became a regular fixture. Every week, Terry joins his son and Chris to predict match scores, enjoy some friendly competition and share their views on the latest results. The sessions have become a source of fun and connection for everyone involved.
Terry’s enthusiasm for QPR has also led to some memorable moments. The official QPR historian visited Denham Manor to share stories from the club’s history and presented Terry with a signed copy of his book — a gesture that meant a great deal.
To celebrate Terry’s first birthday at Denham Manor, the team arranged a surprise gift: a framed QPR shirt with his name on it. The following year brought another thoughtful touch — a “Loftus Road” plaque for his bedroom door — followed by a QPR garden gnome from a fellow supporter at the Support Office.
Over the past year, Terry has enjoyed being part of activities that reflect who he is and what he loves. His days are filled with conversation, laughter and a genuine sense of connection with those around him.
Terry’s story is a simple but powerful reminder of how personalised care can make a difference — helping residents feel understood, valued and truly at home.
