Our residents and colleagues at Deer Park View Care Centre in Teddington have been enjoying visits from Park Lane Stables this month.
Park Lane Stables is an award-winning Riding for the Disabled Association centre which offers one-to-one and group sessions for children and adults with disabilities and learning difficulties.
Their first visit was on Tuesday 10th of September when Natalie (founder of PLS) and Jo (RDA coach) visited with Reggie (a 10-year-old black gelding horse), who is known for his amazing mane and epic moustache.
Despite the chilly morning, the residents, colleagues, and some family members came along to the garden to stroke and feed him. Lead Wellbeing Coordinator Monica commented, “everybody was amazed to see a horse in our garden, they were asking when they could come again and suggested that we prepare some carrots for his next visit.”
Two days later, Lexy (BHS Accredited Professional Coach) visited with her rescue dog Ali – a 3-year-old red fox labrador. This was a great experience for the residents, especially those who couldn’t join the outdoor group activity. Monica said, “they haven’t stopped smiling since.”
The beginning of a long-lasting relationship between the stables and our residents, Natalie said, “we once had a volunteer at our stables who was also a resident at Deer Park View, we were so grateful for her.”
Natalie and her team are due to return on Thursday 26th September with their carriage to give our residents a unique experience.
