Cherelle Henery from Cranmer Court Care Home has been awarded Care Registered Nurse of the year at this year’s prestigious National Care Awards.
The award recognised Cherelle for her high level of dedication to and advocacy for the people she supports whilst maintaining regular up to date training and demonstrating outstanding clinical and managerial qualities.
Cherelle started as a Care Assistant before training as a nurse. Having worked in emergency care in the NHS, she returned to Cranmer Court in 2016 as a Registered General Nurse and promoted to Senior Nurse in 2020.
Cherelle is always on hand to support her team and won’t ask her colleagues to do anything she wouldn’t do herself. She encourages colleagues to explore their interests in care and to develop themselves through training.
On winning the award, Cherelle said, “I was thrilled to win the Care Registered Nurse award. I started out at Cranmer Court as a Care Assistant, which ignited my passion for care of the elderly. I am extremely proud to be a Senior Registered Nurse and I hope that my story will inspire others to be the best they can be and realise that anything is achievable if you put your mind to it.”
Home Manager Norah Davey who was also shortlisted as a finalist at the awards said, “I was absolutely delighted to be a finalist. I have a passion for what I do, and for this to be recognised is humbling. Working alongside Cherelle and watching her career progression has been an honour. She is a truly remarkable young lady and has an exciting journey ahead of her. She is a credit to the nursing profession.”
Hosted by Broadcast Journalist Matt Johnson, the black-tie awards ceremony was held on Saturday 26th November at the Park Plaza Hotel in London, celebrating the very best people in the long-term care sector.
