Claydon House Residents’ Delight at Pet Therapy Visits

Claydon House Care Home welcoming pet therapy animals April 2023

Residents at Claydon House Care Home are always delighted when they welcome a variety of animals to the home. Pet Pals Therapy have been providing animal therapy to the elderly and adults with learning disabilities for over ten years.

Pet Pals Therapy visit quarterly and deliver an hour session using different types of animals on each visit, enabling our residents to benefit from both visual stimulation as well as tactile interaction.

Animal-assisted therapy is a growing area that uses all types of animals to help people recover or cope better with health problems. It has been proven that contact with animals can help depression, loneliness, boredom and anxiety. It can also aid in recovery, rehabilitation and help improve mental health and wellbeing. As well as increase motor skills and movement and help improve social skills.

The recent visit saw a number of small animals including some beautiful Malaysian chicks and baby lambs for us to feed and fawn over! We had an amazing day and would like to extend our thanks to Pet Pals for organising our visit and to everyone who helped make the afternoon so special.
