Residents at Claydon House Care Home are always delighted to welcome animals to the home and always look forward to their visits from Pet Pals.
Pet Pals Therapy have been providing animal therapy to the elderly and adults with learning disabilities for over ten years. Pet Pals Therapy visit quarterly and deliver an hour session using different types of animals on each visit, enabling our residents to benefit from both visual stimulation as well as tactile interaction.
Animal-assisted therapy is a growing area that uses all types of animals to help people recover or cope better with health problems. It has been proven that contact with animals can help depression, loneliness, boredom and anxiety. It can also aid in recovery, rehabilitation and help improve mental health and wellbeing. As well as increase motor skills and movement and help improve social skills.
This recent visit we welcomed some ferrets to Claydon House. While we initially felt it was different choice, seeing them scamper around and looking at their cute faces, made all of us fall in love with them! We had an amazing day and would like to extend our thanks to Pet Pals for organising our visit and to everyone who helped make the afternoon so special.
