Brook House local community Dementia Cafe

Cafe attendees at Brook House Care Home's dementia cafe enjoying each others company over refreshments

Brook House Care Home runs a monthly Dementia Cafe for the local community to attend with a range of guest speakers and it is proving popular.

Every month a different speaker from a supporting dementia organisation attends to give advice, present and share relevant information to support carers of those living with dementia. The cafe is open to anyone in the community and there is no need to book you can just drop in.

This month they were joined by Rebecca Goadsby, Dementia Liaison Nurse from Northampton General Hospital to give her insight.

It is an opportunity to hear from the speakers but also ask questions and share experiences in a safe and supportive environment, whilst making new friends and enjoying delicious cakes and refreshments.

Alison Southwell, Deputy Manager at Brook House said: “Our dementia cafe at Brook House are very important to us as they are a way of offering dementia support to the local community and of providing clear information to those needing help. They enable us to stay in touch with dementia specialists and importantly help those looking after someone with dementia to make new friends and feel supported.”

The cafe runs from 2pm on the last Thursday of every month, we look forward to welcoming you to our next one.
